Fall Holiday Party

The Bear Den Leader and I decided to combine the 2 dens at our weekly meeting the week of Thanksgiving in order to have a fun Fall Holiday Party. We spent most of our time making turkey cupcakes:

We had a fun night!

Winter Holiday Party Pics

I am so behind on keeping our Tiger Den Blog page up-to-date! I've let time fly and I have so many pictures to post! Here is our Winter Holiday Party 2011!

We made snowmen:

The basic supplies: 3 HUGE marshmallows, a wooden skewer, pretzel sticks and cookie frosting, and....
The boys' imaginations!

Then we moved on to Santa hats:

Santa hats and peel-and-stick Christmas foam pieces.

Even some of our parents joined in!

This is what I love most about Tiger cubs...the boy and their partner working together!

The Tiger Den in their hats!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, Hannukah, or Kwanzaa.

Scouting 4 Food

We are in the middle of our Scouting 4 Food campaign! We had 9 Tigers show up last night to put out bags on door handles and it was a great success! We finished quickly and our work helped the Pack blitz our chosen neighborhood.

Remember we still need to pick up the donated food! That will Sunday, November 13th at 2 PM. We will meet at the same park and pick up the bags.

All food donated to the Pack will be weighed (to see if we can beat the Troop) and given to the Churches Food Pantry to be handed out in the Thanksgiving baskets.

Thank you so much for your help!

October 18th Den Meeting

We've been discussing safety in Tigers the past couple of weeks. We began with a Go See It (Req. 2G) to the Police Station on Oct. 11th and we discussed (Req. 3Fa) and (Req. 3 Fb) with the boys at this meeting.

Requirement 3Fa: With your family, plan a fire drill and then practice it in your home.

This is a requirement that I need you to do at home with your Tigers and turn in to me when you've completed it.

Requirement 3Fb: With your adult partner, plan what to do if you become lost or separated from your family in a strange place.

The partners discussed this with the boys at the meeting, an old saying is "hug a tree", meaning "stay put" and don't wander off the trail if you become lost. Please discuss with your Tigers what you want them to do if they become lost.

We also discussed Electives 27 & 28: Talk with your adult partner about what to do if 1) the person caring for you becomes ill & 2) You are alone with someone who makes you uncomfortable and 3) test the batteries in your smoke detector.

We also had fun fingerprinting the boys and practicing our skit for the upcoming Pack meeting in 2 weeks.

Reminder: next week we will meet at the park at 6 PM for Requirements 5F and 5G. Details will be sent out in an e-mail.

Pack Fall Family Campout

We had our 1st campout of the new Scouting year this past weekend (Oct. 14-16, 2011). It was a great campout, the weather was beautiful, the Tigers were very evident (10 of them and their families came out at various times over the weekend) and the food was great! Here are some of the pictures:

It was a wonderful campout. I hope everyone can make the Spring Campout (usually in April) and I'm sure we will have a mega-blast there too! Thanks parents for all of the help and support.

  • Stay on the trail.

  • Be alert to your surroundings.

  • Don't litter as you hike.
